In this work we used serological and biochemical techniques for the identification of FMDV strains isolated from the field in Argentina and in the rest of South America. The main purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the real potential and practical utility of using the combination of both techniques for diagnostic purposes as well as for the better understanding of the molecular basis of virus variability.
