At present the potential of biotechnological methods for improving FMDV vaccines is unquestionable. It should be noted, however, that the developments are only beginning and much more needs to be known about immunological mechanisms and the molecular biology of FMDV before an overall success can be serene. Therefore at present improvements for conventional methods should not be disregarded.
