Current advances in recombinant DNA techniques sequencing techniques, peptide chemistry and monoclonal antibodies coupled with advances in immunology provide powerful means for the development of new vaccines as well as of new diagnostic procedures.  In this paper we summarize the potentials of recently developed biotechnological method for improving vaccines and diagnostic procedures.
