Resumen:
This paper presents an experimental study and an analysis of the isolhennal nucleation of the metastable omega (o) phase in a high-Nb Zr-Nb alloy. The work combines in situ neutron Ihermodiffraction (NTD) with transmission e)ectron mieroscopy (TEM) observatioos at room temperature in quenchedlagedlquenehed alloys. The NTD data are interpreted on the bosis of a rather general lattice parameter ys. eomposition systematics establisbed very recently by ourselves. The results of the present study yield strong support to a picture of the isothermal bcc~o phase transformation which involves the initial formation of signifieantIy Nb-depleted o nucleii.
