Resumen:
Edición Bilingüe Ingles/Español. The rivers and streams that pass through the forests and bogs of the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve are an essential feature of the landscapes. Water courses are found all over and in many different forms, particularly in the western and southern areas of the biosphere reserve given the large quantity of precipitation that this area receives in the form of rain, sleet and snow. In addition to being important and beautiful in their own right, these streams function as “arteries” or “veins” that connect the landscape. As connectors of ecosystems we can understand the crucial role that permanent and ephemeral water courses play in maintaining the well-being of all life at the extreme southern tip of the American Continent.
