Resumen:
This work represents the first record of medicinal animals in traditional Angolan medicine. Data were obtained from interviews with 27 specialists in the use of medicinal animals. The results showed that body parts and excreta of eight medium and large mammal species are used in 12 treatments. Of the species surveyed, four are present in threat categories of the IUCN Red List (2016). It has been observed that one or more products derived from the same species can be used to treat a variety of diseases and diseases, demonstrating the versatility of the species. It was found that all taxa used as zooterapics in the surveyed area are also used in other countries in Africa and / or Europe, often even to treat the same diseases. This research demonstrated that the knowledge of local experts should be considered in the management of wild mammals present in the PNQ, since they demonstrated knowledge and use of numerous wild species such as zooterapeutics.
