Infrastructure for Electronic Government - A Prototype for Messaging Services

Delivering seamless services requires improving communication and cooperation between government agencies, increasing and enhancing Government-to-Government services. For doing so, a technical infrastructure supporting communications between agencies should be in place. Exploring different approaches for developing such an infrastructure, we developed a prototype system to support G2G messaging, called XG2G - eXtensible Government Messaging Gateway. XG2G is an infrastructure component supporting Electronic Government. In this paper we present the requirements of XG2G, the conceptual model, static and dynamic architectural views, and a possible deployment scenario. We include a summary of related works, draw some conclusions and discuss future work. The main contribution is presentation of a prototype solution supporting asynchronous communications between agencies, underpinning e-service development and addressing the interoperability problem.
