Resumen:
Type 1 Diabetes is currently controlled by manymodel-based advanced control techniques, embedded in what isknown as artificial pancreas (AP). In this context, the problemof the identification and state estimation is crucial to accountfor the effect of measured, partially-measured and unmeasureddisturbances. In this work, a diabetic patient minimal modelwith long-term validity is proposed and, based on this model, several identifications are performed. Furthermore, and no lessimportant, different estimators are designed to obtain the statesin several scenarios, including unannounced meals and measurementserrors in the glycemia. The properties/benefits of themodeling, identification and estimation are discussed in detailin this two-parts work: Part I describes the model and theidentification, while Part II is devoted to study the estimationproblem. Both parts includes several simulation results - basedon real and virtual patient data - which demonstrate the prosand cons of the proposed strategies.
