Resumen:
Ourgoal in this article is to characterize the contents, possible origin, dates ofelaboration and places of circulation of two rare Guarani manuscripts conservedin the collection Manuscripta Americanaunder the signatures of ms. 12 and ms. 13, respectively. Both manuscriptsbelong to the corpus of doctrinal texts composed in Guarani language in theprovince of Paraguay during the Jesuit reductions period (1610-1768). We analyzethree main variables: textual characteristics, intertextual relationships andcontextual references. The results suggest that both manuscripts arise from theneeds of adaptation of former doctrinal texts to the new sociologicalconditions of the missions at the beginning of the 18th Century, inpart characterized by indigenous agency in writing practices. Furthermore, marginal notes indicate the continuity of Jesuit textual tradition during thefirst republican decades of the 19th Century.
