Entanglement and optimal evolution: A geometric approach

Applying a geometric formalism to composite quantum systems we analize the relationship between the acquired phases under unitary evolutions and the entanglement of the state. We calculate the entanglement involved in geodesic evolutions connect- ing orthogonal and non-orthogonal states. For the case of optimal time evolution curves we show how results derived from a dynamical approach can be recovered using a purely geometric treatment.
