Ni/CeO2 and Ni/CeO2-ZrO2 nanopowders with high catalytic activity for partial oxidation of methane

Resumen:
In this work, the synthesis and the catalytic behavior of Ni/CeO2 and Ni/Ce0.9Zr0.1O2 catalysts, with nickel contents of 9% and 50% (wt.) and nanometric particle size, are reported. The catalysts have shown excellent morphological characteristics (specific surface area, pore volume, particle size and homogeneity) and stable catalytic performances in a typical 6h-on stream studies at 650ºC. They had excellent catalytic behavior in the partial oxidation of methane, with methane conversions above 90% at temperatures higher than 650ºC, H2 and CO selectivities close to 100 % and  a H2:CO molar ratio of 2 (approx.).
