Resumen:
The catalysts based on vanadium antimony oxide have been widely studied (Catani et al, 1992; Nilsson et al, 1994) in the last years applied to ammoxidation / oxidation reactions. In this sense, many patents have been published using VSbO4 as active phase (Brit. Pat 1970). In spite of the interest in these catalysts, very few data on the structural, surface and reactivity characteristics of this system are available in the literature.             The synthesis of VSbO4 from the solid state reaction between Vanadium (V) oxide and Antimony (III) oxide has been analysed by Berry and Brett (1984) and Birchall and Sleight (1975). They propose a rutilo-related phase with composition V1-ySb1-yO4 ( 0<y<0.1) In order to improve the catalytic performance Berry et al (1996) prepared titanium -substituted vanadium antimonate and they found that this material might have promising properties for selective oxidation.  In this work the changes produced in the structure and reactivity of vanadium antimony oxides replacing Sb with different amounts of titanium have been studied. Partial oxidation of toluene was used as test reaction.
