Resumen:
This chapter describes the purple urchins reproduction and why it reaches extraordinary densities in some locations. We then explore the ecological consequences of these larger populations, particularly their effects on the surrounding habitat. Finally, we put this knowledge into the broader context of the South Australian coast as well as comparable coasts (Leeuwin Current; from Western Australia to Coorong) and contrasting coasts (East Australian Current, from New South Wales to Tasmania).
