Invertases(Inv) catalyze the irreversible hydrolysis of Suc into Glu and Fru and they wereclassified by their in vitro optimumpH in acid and alkaline/neutral invertases (A/N Inv). Recent findings haveindicated the presence A/N Inv not only in the cytosol but also in organelles,as chloroplast and mitochondria. In Arabidopsis, mitochondrial A/N Inv gene family was represented bythree members, named as A/N InvA, A/N InvC and A/N InvH. Interestingly, analysis of knockout mutants in A/N InvAand A/N InvC genes demonstrated a newrole for these proteins, showing an impaired growth phenotype with alterationsin development and abiotic stress responses. Here, we present thephenotypic analysis of Ath mutant in A/N InvH gene (At3g05820) growing innormal and under abiotic stress conditions. Relative expression of plastidic A/N Inv genes in A/N InvH mutant background was analyzed. Our results contributeto understand the role of mitochondrial A/N Inv family proteins during developmentand stress conditions.
