Resumen:
The extracellular matrix is a biological support, which participates in the communication of the cells with their microenvironment, regulated by and involved in processes such as ageing, differentiation, inflammation, so on. Among the macromolecules components of the matrix, glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which are polymers of disaccharides, are found. They have negative charge and their composition is dependent on the tissue and its metabolic state. On the other hand, protein interaction with GAGs has been demonstrated as a factor that favours protein aggregation as fibrillar complexes identified in lesions of patients suffering from amyloidosis. Despite general consensus in the identification of this phenomenon, very little is known about the association between these aggregates and their probable pathogenicity. In this work, we propose to establish a study model of the interaction of apoA-I with GAGs of different composition, and the effect of this interaction on the amyloidogenic protein structure.
