Resumen:
Paraguay is included in the endemic area of PCM but there is a scarce knowledge about the epidemiology of this systemic disease in this country. The aim of this study was to know the clinical-epidemiological characteristic of 27 PCM cases diagnosed in 2013 to 2017 period.A male/female relationship 12:1 was observed. This result is lower than other studies in Paraguay who reports male/female relationship around 32:1 to 93:1.The average was 51 years (range 16-78). Most patients (25) presented the chronic clinical form and the PCM juvenile type was observed in 7% of cases. Only 48% (13/27) of patients referred lived or worked in rural areas. This is interesting to highlight, as according to the literature, PCM is traditionally associated to rural workers or people who lived in rural areas. Other risk factors like smoking 37% (10/27) and alcoholism 33% (9/27) were registered.Pulmonary (48%), followed by mucocutaneous (22%), lymphatic (19%), central nervous system (11%), skin (11%) and less frequent, adrenal glands (7%) and genital (4%) were the clinical manifestations most frequently observed.
