Sugarcane vitroplants produced at EEAOC under ISO 9001 Standard Certification

Since 2001, the Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (EEAOC) has led theVitroplantas Project in order to obtain seed cane of high phytosanitary quality and genetic purityfor productivity improvement. The first stage of the process involves the in vitro culture of apicalmeristems from donor plants previously hydro-heat-treated and the micropropagation of plantsand takes place at the biotechnology laboratory. In 2016, to add value to the product andincrease customer satisfaction, a Quality Management System (QMS) was implemented underthe international standard ISO 9001:2008. Several modifications were made to the main processand the support ones to achieve this goal. In September 2016, the Argentine Institute forStandardization and Certification (IRAM) verified the Quality Management System implementedand its level of development and in December 2016, certification was achieved. In 2017, as anew version of ISO 9001:2015 was released, political, economic, social and technological factorsthat could be a source of opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses, as well as therelevant requirements of the interested parties were considered. At the end of 2017, the QMSwas certified under ISO 9001:2015 standards. This achievement reassures customers of theability to offer products that meet their requirements under an international certification.
