Resumen:
Coordination complexes have been extensively studied as antitumoragents, offering a potential alternative for cancer treatment. In thissense, copper compounds are attracting increasing interest as alter-natives to traditional platinum drugs. Moreover, Schiff bases havebeen broadly investigated due to their antitumor properties, and canact as polydentate ligands in interaction with metal cations. The aim of this work is to evaluate the antitumoral activity of a novelcopper complex cation with a tridentate Schiff base ligand (SBT),containing thiophen [Cu(BTS)(H2O)]+, in 2D (monolayer) and 3D(multicellular spheroids) cancer models. The cytotoxic activity was tested against a panel of human cell linesincluding Jurkat (leukemia), MG-63 (osteosarcoma), A549 (lung),MDA-MB-231 (breast) and MCF7 (breast), using MTT assay. Thecomplex significantly reduced the cell viability in all cell lines tested(Jurkat IC50: 2.64μM; MG-63 IC50: 3.49μM; A549 IC50: 2.46μM; MDA-MB-231 IC50: 1.89μM; MCF7 IC50: 1.58μM) (p
