Rib fracture in a horse during an endurance ride.

We describe a fatal case, where the animal suffered a fall and as a consequence, rib fractures. Diagnosis was made post-mortem and the horse died without showing clear signs of respiratory dysfunction. The retrospective reports of injuries can be important to reduce these traumatic events and to avoid fatalities.
