Resumen:
The flowers of Arnica montana (Am) family Compositae (Asteraceae) show anti-inflammatory properties and stimulate the phagocytosis, increasing oxygen and nitrogen reactive intermediaries. Our objective was to determine if Am owns antiallergic and immunomodulating properties. The cells of 11 allergic patients and 8 controls, ages 5 to 45 years old, were evaluated. The basophils and the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were isolated with Histopaque 1119/ Histopaque 1077. The basophils were defied with: allergen or Am or the allergen and Am. Enzyme β-hexosaminidasa (BH) released was evaluated by EIA. The PBMC were cultivated: without stimulus or with PHA or the allergen or Am, or the allergen and Am. The test by colorimetry with VybrantÒ MTT Cell Proliferation Assay Kit USA.equipment was realised. The basophils with allergen reached higher BH indices than without allergen: p
