Resumen:
Insect voltage-dependent sodium channel is the target protein of pyrethroid insecticides. Point mutations have been reported in several insect species, associated with pyrethroid resistance. Resistance-associated mutations occur mainly in the domain II of the channel. Recently, our research group reported the sequence of domain II of the sodium channel from Triatoma infestans, and identified the mutation L1014F in a resistant population from the field (Fabro et al. Infection, Genetics and Evolution. 2012. 12, 487-91). Here we describe a method to detect the presence/ausence of L1014F mutation. Furthermore, we report a new mutation (L925I) in another resistant population from Argentina.
