Resumen:
Object-oriented patterns are enjoying much popularity as mechanisms to address flexibility and reusability in object-oriented designs. Consequently, many CASE environments have incorporated different pattern-based facilities. Nonetheless, the selection of the most appropriate patterns for a given design context is left to the developer’s criteria. For different reasons, this activity can be problematic for the developer, and thus, amenable for tool assistance. Along this line, this paper proposes the use of interface agents, and also describes an agent called PatternAdvisor that is able to help the developer with the application of the GoF’s design patterns in his/her projects. This agent works integrated with a CASE environment, based on a Bayesian model for representing knowledge about design patterns and developer’s feedback.
