In this talk we revise the Inverse Mean Curvature Flow (IMCF) and itsapplication to study geometrical inequalities in General Relativity. Therole that the IMCF has played in the proof of the Riemannian Penroseinequality by Huisken and Ilmanen is well known. We study alternatives tointroduce a non zero extrinsic curvature into the problem. We also discussthe diculties that arise when trying to obtain a geometrical inequalityfor both black holes and material bodies.
