Leishmania lipopeptidephosphoglycan (LPG) core and GIPLs present an internal Galf as part of the trisaccharide unit a-D-Galp-(1®3)-b-D-Galf-(1®3)-D-Man (1). This compound has been synthesized as a tool for structure and biosynthesis studies of this family of glycoconjugates.
