Standard simulations that study system´s evolution in time hardly reach further than 100 ns. Consequently, most activated processes cannot be modeled. Kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) is a useful computational technique that can tackle this problem. In this presentation, the basic concepts, benefits, limitations and practical use of KMC will be given. No prior knowledge on these kind of simulations is needed.
