The goal ofthis paper is to study a distribution of accents in the Alcaic Strophes?composed by Alcaeus, in particular, the preference for circumflexes in threespecific locations of the strophe. After introducing the data, the authordiscusses the possible causes of the phenomenon and its motivation.
