Resumen:
This study, inspired by the work of Hersperger et al. (2010), Plieninger et al. (2016), Sayer et al. (2013), and Hersperger et al. (2015), presents a state of the art and a systematic review of literature that identifies the forces that drive these changes in the landscape, and aims to move the discussion forward on the role of social actors in the direct and indirect drivers of LUCC in South America. This review focuses specifically on: 1. Characterise how LUCC studies have addressed the factors driving territorial transformations and landscape change in drylands.2. Identify how the direct and indirect drivers and the physical-biological and socio-economic consequences of the LUCC have been addressed.
