Resumen:
The oceanfront shoreline at the South of Punta Mogotes, near Mar del Plata city (Figure 1), has been facing a progressive erosion of their sandy coasts from many years. Possible causes of the sediment deficit include both natural processes: wave action, sea level rise and storm surges, and processes associated to the human activities: urbanization, dune consolidations and inefficient coastal structures along the coast. As part of the Coast Protection Project (M.I.V.S.P., 2005), a detached breakwater system was designed to stop the coastal erosion and to allow the beach renourishment. The main objective of this numerical modelling is then to improve and optimize such a preliminary design.
