Resumen:
The aim of this study was the detection ofRickettsiain ticks of sigmodontinerodents from Northeastern Buenos Aires province, Argentina. A total of 222 rodents werecaptured collecting 10 ticks identified asIxodes loricatusNeumann, which were analysed bythe real-time PCR and conventional PCR techniques. DNA ofRickettsia belliiwas detected innymphs obtained from the rodentsAkodon azaraeFischer, Oxymycterus rufusFischer andDeltamys kempiThomas. This is the first report ofR. belliiinfectingI. loricatusin Argentinaand the first report of this bacterium associated with ticks of sigmodontine rodents
