Resumen:
The development of active catalysts for catalytic oxidation of methane reactions (total and partial oxidation) has gained interest in the area of anode materials development for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells operated with methane. For this application it is essential that the materials also possess ionic conductivity to allowthe transport of O2- from the electrolyte to the anode in the cell, and electronic conductivity to guarantee the continuity in the electronic path along the cell. Ce0.9Zr0.1O2 has proved to be an outstanding catalyst support, due to the cerium high reducibility and oxygen storage capacity, and with both types of conductivities. In this work we present the catalytic behaviour of Ni-Cu/Ce0.9Zr0.1O2 catalysts with different amounts of Cu and Ni. The tests were carried out in excess methane atmospheres as it is a prevailing condition in SOFCs anode chamber.
