Resumen:
This work presents the evaluation of a possible transduction principle to beimplemented in a biosensor for the early detection of citrus diseases. The proposed principle is the inhibition of the Horseradish peroxidase enzyme by the polyphenols present in the stems or leaves of citrus. It has been reported that a certain kind of diseases produce a significant increment of flavonoids, particularly quercetin, hesperidin and naringenin. The enzyme activity was biochemically evaluated by the OD method, which is sensitive and reliable. The evaluation of the enzyme inhibition of each of the previously mentioned flavonoids, showed an inhibition between 80% and 90% depending on the flavonoid and its concentration.
