Resumen:
The use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) allows analyzing the space as an integral part of any social phenomenon and produce interdisciplinary explanatory models with quantifiable basis. As it is known, the spatial organization of the incas was scheduled under certain political and religious principles materialized in the landscape through various features such as rocks, water bodies, mountains, celestial bodies, plazas, ushnus, roads and kanchas, among other. In the case of the inca site El Shincal de Quimivil, located in the province of Catamarca (Northwest Argentina), studies have shown the fundamental role of the Qhapaq Ñan or main road as a space organizer. Given the importance of the road as the axis of communication and integration, we intend to analyze the internal communication network of the various archaeological site structures in relation to the main road. We will use a GIS software to perform different analysis of accessibility according to the cost map produced for the site. This model of internal mobility allow us to understand different processes related to administrative and ceremonial political activities performed in El Shincal de Quimivil.
