Resumen:
A refined conodont biostratrigraphic scheme for the Darriwilian Stage of the Central Precordillera is accomplished. Conclusions drawn from the appearance of index species support the identification of three biozones for the top of the San Juan Formation and Las Chacritas Formation: Yangtzeplacognathus crassus, Eoplacognathus pseudoplanus and Eoplacognathus suecicus Zones. These index species and the conodont fauna associated allows precise global correlations. Conodont zones from other regions such as South China, Baltoscandia and Newfoundland can be correlated, which enables us to propose a high resolution biostratigraphic chart for this interval.
