Resumen:
Skin aging occurs as a result of multiple oxidative reactions due to both intrinsicand external factors which promote wrinkle formation, dryness, tissue elasticityloss, and thinning, among other visible signs. There are many strategies aiming toreduce these signs of aging and/or to treat age-related skin problems. Nanovehiculizationof antioxidant ingredients represents one of the most capabletechnologies of the twenty-first century. The use of nanocarrier systems hasadded novel advantages of improved skin penetration, depot effect with sustainedrelease of active substances, and targeted site effects. Various innovative formulationtypes for special delivery systems like nanocapsules, submicroscopic tinybits, vesicular, particulate systems, emulsion type, particulate type, and otherdelivery systems are discussed in this chapter. Special attention is paid to thoseproducts based on eco-friendly and naturally derived ingredients, which mightrepresent interesting raw materials for the formulation of future innovativenanocosmetics. Thus, several cosmetic delivery systems for natural antioxidantingredients are reviewed here and constitute highly promising technologies withenormous potential as customer products.
