Desmogleins (Dsg) are transmembrane proteins located in desmosomes and play a critical role in the cell-cell adhesion of epithelial cells. Dsg-4 deficiency is associated with sharp hair loss in humans, mice, and rats. Recently, we have reported a clear link between Dsg-4 deficiency, exacerbated inflammation, and psoriasis-like lesions after imiquimod (IMQ) administration. However, the role of Dsg-4 in humoral immunity has not been addressed. Therefore, this work aimed to study the impact of Dsg-4 deficiency in OVA-specific IgG induction. For this purpose, OFA hr/hr deficient in Dsg-4, and wild-type Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were inoculated intradermally with PBS-OVA. IMQ, or Vaseline (Vas), was administered topically after four hours from OVA injection and for the following three days. Two weeks later, serum samples were obtained to determined OVA-specific IgG levels by ELISA. Surprisingly, OFA rats displayed lower OVA-specific IgG levels compared to SD group (SD 0.745±0.171 vs OFA 0.118±0.095, t test, p
