Resumen:
We present the results of a magnetotelluric (MT) survey carried out between the Chaco-Paraná andParaná basins in the provinces of Corrientes and Misiones, north-eastern Argentina (Fig. 1A), aiming to characterize the electrical properties of the lithosphere in the area. The South American continent was formed by a series of collisions and breakups of several tectonic units during its evolution (Almeida et al. 2000). Most of the continent is nowadays covered by sedimentary basins, so that direct characterization of these tectonic units to assess their limits, nature and evolutive processes, is dependent upon drilling data and few basement rocks outcrops. In the study area these alternatives are not enough, there are only a few wells in the region that reached the basement and, speci􀃀 cally in the Chaco-Paraná basin, a combination of low altitudes (
