Resumen:
The sensitivity to Cu2+, Hg2+, Cd 2+, Pb 2+, Th4- and Al3+ has been evaluated for a group of 13 bacterial strains belonging to the Bradyrhizobium genus of symbiotic bacteria. Bacteria were isolated from root nodules of Adenocarpus, Chamaecytisus, Glycine, Lotus, Teline and Ulex. There was not any relationship among the bacterial sensitivity to the metals and the geographical origin or with the host from which the bacteria were isolated. However, strain AU021, isolated from Ulex nodules growing in the pyrite mines of Rio Tinto (Huelva, Spain) was the most insensitive to the toxic metals employed. In some strains Hg2+ increased the toxic effect of Cu2+.This effect did not required direct contact between both metals.
