I try to explore which mechanisms and features of anthologies are typical or representative of a more general intellectual trend, and in which ways the florilegic form appear in works other than anthologies.Consequently, this paper is not about the contents of anthologies, or about their circulation, but concern their methodologies and the way these methodologies interact with a particular environment and cultural context.
