Photochemical Studies of IO and OIO.

Both IO and OIO have been observed in the marine boundary layer. Uncertainties relatedto their photochemistry precludes accurate assessment of their role in e.g. O3depletion and new particle formation. In the present study, we report absorption crosssections and photolysis quantum yields obtained using pulsed laser radical generationand photolysis. Transient absorption spectroscopy and resonance fluorescence detectiontechniques were employed. This work was carried out within the framework ofthe THALOZ project.
