Resumen:
Modern warfare cannot be fully addressed by the traditional scope of application of International Humanitarian Law. Due to the changing nature of contemporary armed conflicts, the Geneva Conventions and the Additional Protocols need to be interpreted in accordance with the evolution of technology. The purpose of this talk is to discuss the challenges related to the classification of armed conflicts, in the first place, and secondly to examine the rules in force in order to find reasonable grounds to justify their applicability to new situations of interstate and intrastate violence.
