Resumen:
The study of the effect of apoptotic drugs on embryo development would greatly facilitate by establishing appropriate mouse models. We tested the feasibility of  pregnant females to analyze apoptosis in the developing embryo. Apoptosis induction was experimentally approached by “in utero” administration of pro-apoptotic drugs in day 7 of pregnancy. Pro-apoptotic drugs assayed were:  sodium nitroprusiate (NPS) as NO donor,  colchicine, and NMDA. Control as performed by injecting PBS alone. Drug effect was monitored 24 h after injection by general morphological inspection of embryos. Abortions were registered. We determined optimal drug concentration in each case. Degree and distribution of apoptosis  was assessed by TUNEL in histological embryo sections.
