Resumen:
A general approach to substituted octahydrophenanthrenes was developed, which allows the stereoselective introduction of functionality at all positions. The procedure utilizes 4a-methyl-2,3,4,4a,9,10-hexahydrophenanthrene readily available from phenanthrenne by reductive alkylation.
