Resumen:
The insecticidal activity of Eucalyptus globulus (Mirtaceae) essential oil obtained in FAUBA laboratory was tested against Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera, Aphididae) adults. The screening bioassay showed very high insecticidal activity (55-100%) at 3000, 6000, 12000 and 18000 ppm at the first hour, increasing up to 84-100% at 24 hours. Based on these results, a dose response test was carried out. LC50 (lethal concentration necessary to kill 50% of the population) values of 2000 ppm at 4 and 6 hours were obtained. The activity could be attributed to the secondary metabolite 1, 8 cineole, the main component of the essential oil tested.
