Resumen:
Bulk-mediated surface diusion is a process where a particle randomlyalternates between surface and bulk diusions. Such a topic ispresent in several areas, for instance various chemical and biochemicalprocesses such as reactions in porous media or tracking in livingcells. Recently, several theoretical studies were carried on, includingboth noninteractive and interactive approaches for the particle diusionon the surfaces. Some exact remarkably results were obtained for theparticle´s mean and variance functions on the boundary, before its exitin the case of a two-dimensional domain. Here we review part of ourstudies on bulk-mediated surface diusion approach, based on masterequation frameworks. Both, markovian and non markovian dynamicswere treated. The models took into account the motion over nite andinnite spaces. Analytical expressions were obtained for the probabilitydistributions, and the models numerically validated, providing in thisway a rst insight of the framework. We also discuss possible extensionsand applications of this phenomenon
