Resumen:
This presentation will focus on several aspects. Firstly, it will consider regional and global agreements assumed since the Millennium Declaration in 2000 until present day, particularly the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Some of these agreements have represented a significant progress by considering care a right, defined as the right to care for someone else, be cared for and self-care as well as taking into account its impact at a regional level in Latin America. Secondly, it will analyze the implementation extent of the 2030 Agenda in Latin America, especially in Argentina, from the perspective of five key factors essential to reach the long sought gender equality: i) Sexual Division of Labor (paid and unpaid), Income and Time; ii) the Social Organization of Care (SOC) features at a regional level, defined as Care Diamond ; iii) legal conditions and institutional capacities of every country necessary to comply with their rights obligations; iv) the assessment of the reach, coverage and content of those national strategies, plans, programmes and policies; and v) cultural processes and gender stereotypes. Lastly, it will conclude by discussing the challenges implied in the creation of a development agenda that effectively includes the gender and rights approach. These presentacion was taken on the UN-Women and the ILO propose to convene a side event to bring together a group of leading experts to examine the ways in which income poverty and time poverty coincide in the lives of low-income women, how environmental degradation intensifies these gender-based inequalities, and explore some of the key policy instruments?social protection instruments and public services?that countries can adopt to address the double bind of time and income poverty. The event addresses issues of relevance for several agenda items of the Second Committee in the 74th session of the General Assembly.
