Resumen:
The study of hadron properties such as their masses and coupling
constants requires in general to deal with QCD at low energies, where the
strong coupling constant becomes large and the theory is nonperturbative.
This problem can be addressed by the introduction of effective models,
i.e. models that are based on simplified Lagrangians compared to that of
QCD, but retain the basic properties of the fundamental theory. Here we
consider a nonlocal SU(3) chiral quark model, in which quarks are coupled
to a background color field. Within the mean field approximation, we determine
the model parameters and study the basic properties of light pseudoscalar
mesons. Then, we consider the case of finite temperature, analyzing the
deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions.
