Resumen:
Herein we present a systematic review of the available informationfrom existing studies on abundance and body size of N. granulatapopulations across their distribution. Some results described in this chapter support the idea that physiological constraints (evaluated herein by means of demographic proxies) might contribute mainly to the upper sizes near the range boundaries of N. granulata. Furthermore, the operation of these physiological constraints across environments with different tidal regimes, sediment structure, food quality, and predation risk may transfer to site- specific spatial size-distribution of crabs, by the action of different dynamics involved in different small-scale movements. Moreover, the diverse landscape across the distribution of N. granulata provides a wide range of environmental scenarios which, added to the species‟ exceptional behavioural plasticity, have led to the development of countless behavioural patterns.
