Resumen:
The main goal of this work is to reflect on dress practices in the West from a gender perspective. For this purpose, we will take a tour through the nineteenth century when styles of dressing, according to bodily differences between women and men, were polarized with great emphasis. That is, in the nineteenth century, contrasts were emphasized in feminine and masculine dress styles as mutually opposed and particular in tune with positivist biomedical discourses on human sexuality. With all that, it is proposed to think of fashion as a historical and aesthetic discourse that helped the binary conception of genders and bodies; characterization that is currently in crisis.
