Resumen:
We present an overview of the viruses, bacteria, parasites andmetazoan symbionts that use Neohelice granulata as host. Several earlierreviews have covered crustacean diseases in general or only widelydistributed species such as, for example, the blue crab Callinectes sapidusor the invasive green crab Carcinus maenas, but to date, there has been nocompilation of the parasites of the burrowing crab N. granulata. This crabis a dominant species in the southwest Atlantic marshes and plays a keyrole as a host in several parasite life histories. This chapter aims to reviewthe information published so far and include some symbiotic organismsthat have not been reported previously. Throughout the chapter, the term ?symbiont? is used broadly, inaccordance with Shields and Overstreet (2007).
