Resumen:
The emergence and dissemination of antimicrobial resistancein bacteria derived from food-producing animalsis a consequence of intensive agricultural and veterinaryuse of antimicrobial compounds. The inappropriate useand prescribing of antibiotics, along with their use asgrowth promoters, is the main cause of the developmentof resistance. The potential risk of the transfer of this resistancethrough the food chain by bacteria such as Escherichiacoli (E. coli), including food borne pathogenssuch as Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, implies a problemfor public health
